Our Shampoo is certified
An all-purpose shampoo bar
Our argan oil and rhassoul shampoo bar is natural.
With a pH of 8, it is a gentle and eco-friendly shampoo, made to moisturise and strengthen your hair.
This shampoo is multipurpose and can be used on all types of hair and by the whole family.
It is suitable for fine, medium, or thick hair, and no matter what type:
- Straight
- Wavy
- Curly
- Frizzy
Thanks to its special formula that regulates sebum, your scalp is purified and your hair will get greasy far less quickly than with a typical industrial shampoo.
Our shampoo is far more cost-effective than mass-produced liquid shampoos. The 70g shampoo bar lasts an average of 2-3 months (depending on how much you use it and how often).
Handmade in our workshop
A natural shampoo formula
Our shampoo bar is made in our workshop. It is handmade using a recipe that has only four ingredients. We work with carefully selected raw materials that have been chosen for their properties and virtues.
These raw materials protect your health, your hair and the planet.
Following extensive testing, feedback from test-users, and a great amount of research, we found a truly exceptional surfactant to serve as one of the main ingredients in our shampoo bar.
Here are the ingredients in our shampoo:
- SLMI: Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate (the cleansing base) is a very mild surfactant derived from coconut. It is non-irritating and biodegradable. Origin: United States
- Rhassoul: a natural mineral clay often used by North African women for its absorbent, regenerative, and cleansing properties. Origin: Morocco, COSMOS-certified
- Argan oil: from the fruit of the Moroccan argan tree. It moisturises, repairs, and forms a protective film on your hair. Origin: Morocco, organic and COSMOS-certified
- Candelilla wax: it repairs and protects your hair. Extracted from Euphorbiaceae shrubs, it is a good alternative to beeswax (we like to leave the bees in peace). Origin: Mexico
These four raw materials are combined in specific quantities to make our shampoo bar a natural, gentle, and effective cleaner.
INCI ingredients: Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate (SLMI), Moroccan Lava Clay (Rhassoul), Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil (Argan Oil), Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax
SLMI - a gentle surfactant
Our shampoo bar is based on a specific surfactant: Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate (SLMI), a mild, non-irritating, biodegradable, and plant-based ingredient.
Derived from coconuts, this "low-poo" surfactant is considered one of the safest on the cosmetics market, offering numerous benefits. We have received precise and reassuring information from our supplier with regards to the SLMI manufactured process. In addition to being non-irritating, it does not contain any dioxane, propylene oxide, nitrosamine, or sulphates.
Rhassoul - a natural cleanser
Rhassoul was chosen for its rich composition: silicon, iron, magnesium, potassium, sodium, trace elements, and provitamins.
Rhassoul (also known as Ghassoul or Rassoul) is a type of clay mined from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco.
Moroccan women have been using this clay for centuries to wash their hair. Its absorbent properties make it a gentle and natural cleaner.
Rhassoul does not damage the hair's hydrolipidic film, unlike suffocating chemicals such as artificial silicone.
If you have damaged hair, rhassoul powder can also help to restore it. It is used to promote hair growth and reduce hair loss by stimulating the roots. This clay also slows down the appearance of white hair and has natural anti-dandruff properties.
Argan oil - a perfect moisturiser
Argan oil has been used since the dawn of time to moisturise and repair hair. Its composition is particularly eye-catching since it is very rich in unsaturated fatty acids, containing 8% of vitamin E.
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant which is found in very few natural oils.
It also contains schottenol, a skin regulator that revitalises cells and counteracts hair loss.
Argan oil is gentle enough for the whole family. Its comprehensive action repairs and nourishes hair fibres, and offers natural soothing, antioxidant, and detangling properties (very convenient for long hair).
How to use our shampoo bar?
To wash your hair, simply rub our shampoo bar on wet hair or on your hands until it lathers. Be careful not to use too much or it will take a long time to rinse off. Massage your hair and rinse it just like a liquid shampoo.
On short hair: Wet your hair, rub the shampoo bar onto the roots and massage until it forms a fine foam. Rinse thoroughly.
On long hair: Wet your hair thoroughly, then rub the shampoo bar from the scalp to the tips to coat your hair. Massage the scalp under the hair until it forms a fine foam and then work down to the tips of your hair. Let the shampoo work its magic for a few seconds then rinse thoroughly. If necessary, you can do this twice.
Instead of using a mass-produced conditioner, rinse your hair with an apple cider vinegar mix (1 measure of apple cider vinegar for 10 measures of water) for enhanced softness and shine.
If you previously used an industrial shampoo, it will take a few washes before getting your hair used to this new shampoo, free from silicones and sulphates.
Don't give up after the first wash! Once all the chemicals found in mass-produced shampoos have been washed away, your hair will be healthier, brighter, and stronger.
If your hair is used to silicones and sulphates, you might feel that your hair is either dry or greasy after your first few washes. If you want to accelerate the process, you can use bicarbonate or green clay. This will quickly get rid of accumulated and will help you switch to a natural shampoo easier.
You can keep it on our soap holder on the edge of your bathtub or next to our soap in the shower.
An eco-friendly shampoo bar
Using our shampoo bar is a great way to considerably reduce your waste.
Our shampoo is sent in a cardboard box, from sustainably managed forests.
This means no more plastic bottles, which are rarely recycled, most of them are partially incinerated (if your council has an incinerator) or placed in landfills (in most cases).
By choosing this alternative you can significantly cut back on plastic and be sure that our shampoo is safe for you.
This natural shampoo is also biodegradable. You can use it outside when washing in the wilderness for example. However, we recommend being at least twenty metres away from streams to leave the soil, rocks, or sands have a filtering action. This will allow you to have a minimum impact on fauna and flora.
What they don't tell you about mass-produced shampoos
Mass-produced masks, conditioners, and shampoos nearly all contain silicones.
This ingredient makes your hair feel soft, silky, and bright, but it is just an illusion. Silicone forms a synthetic layer around the hair and suffocates it. In the long run, your hair becomes more fragile, dry, and brittle. Silicone is very cheap and provides instant visual results, but it is just a facade.
If you are used to shampoos with silicone, it can be challenging to swap industrial shampoos for shampoo bars. This transition to a natural shampoo can be daunting at first, as your hair may appear less soft and shiny. But this is only temporary and, with consistent use, your hair will become healthier and even nicer.
The transition period lasts around 2-3 weeks during which your hair is eliminating the chemical residues left by previous shampoos. To speed up the process and get rid of the silicone even faster, add a little baking soda to your shampoo during the first wash.
Frequently asked questions
How to cut the shampoo bar?
We advise cutting the shampoo bar with a large knife with smooth blades, but it tends to fall into pieces. You can cut the 250g bar into 2 to 3 pieces and the 500g bar into 4 to 5 pieces.
How to store the shampoo?
To prevent the shampoo from crumbling, we recommend keeping it on a soap holder and away from humidity, this way it could dry between uses. You can also hang it up, check out our tutorial here.
How to use our shampoo?
Rub the bar in between your hands or directly onto your hair and, with the foam obtained, massage your scalp and then rinse. For a better result, keep in mind not to use too much product, otherwise it will be difficult to rinse.
If necessary, you can finish off with an apple cider vinegar rinse (1 measure of vinegar with 10 measures of water). This will replace your conditioner and help you untangle your hair, leaving them with a nice shine.
Does the shampoo foam?
Our shampoo foams less than an industrial shampoo but you will still obtain some foam. You can rub your shampoo bar on your hair roots and massage until a fine foam appears. Please keep in mind that it isn’t at all comparable to foam obtained with an industrial shampoo. We have chosen not to add any foaming agents to our shampoo, as it has no cleaning powers, it is just a sensory addition.
How easily transition towards a shampoo free from silicones and sulphates?
If you want to speed up the process of getting rid of silicone and sulphates still present in your hair and make it easier for your hair to adapt to our shampoo, you can do a "clarification". You will find more information by typing “hair clarification” on internet.
Why transition to a shampoo bar?
Shampoo bars will help to avoid using many single-use plastic bottles. Also, solid products are a lot easier to carry around, and therefore ideal to travel with. They take up less space in our suitcase and bathroom.
Which surfactant is used?
We use SLMI (Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate) a soft surfactant from coconut. It is qualified as easily biodegradable and doesn't contain any sulphates or silicones.
How many washes can be done with our shampoo bar?
On average, you can wash your hair 30 times with our shampoo bar.
What is the difference between a liquid and a solid shampoo?
A liquid shampoo is mainly made out of water, surfactants, preservatives, and other active ingredients. Unlike liquid shampoo, shampoo bars don't contain any water. You therefore buy a shampoo with concentrated active ingredients, non-diluted and free from any preservatives. A shampoo bar also helps to avoid buying any plastic packaging, something which is necessary for a liquid shampoo.
