Introduction
It is no secret that the textile industry is one of the world’s most polluting industry. The distances travelled to produce a t-shirt from start to finish are irrational and we still throw several million tons of clothes away each year.
The negative impact of this industry on the environment is huge and contributes massively to climate change.
Fast-fashion brands produce more collections than what we are able to wear. Prices are very attractive and push consumers to buy more, at the detriment of the quality and the product’s manufacturing conditions.
What if the solution was simply to slow down and replace ethics at the heart of our approach. To buy quality clothing that lasts throughout time, as universal and timeless in style as possible, going through seasons and years smoothly.
With your support, we have launched our Comme Avant textile workshop to make long-lasting clothes. We've dealt with each topic thoroughly, without any greenwashing.
Choosing our clothes it's choosing to:
- Know everything about a product, from its design to its manufacturing.
- Not falling into fast fashion and entering a mindful consumption approach.
- Supporting French expertise and craft.
A t-shirt made in our workshop
Our cotton t-shirt is a step further towards reasonable consumption. It's a must-have, simple and timeless.
No overproduction, our seamstress team makes our t-shirts with great care in our workshop, depending on orders.
The conception, modelling, pattern, and manufacturing are done by hand. No back and forths between factories, we have reduced the circuit to a strict minimum by making an authentical ethical Comme Avant t-shirt.
An organic cotton t-shirt
Made with organic cotton jersey, our t-shirt is a basic to have in your wardrobe.
The material is very soft (but thick with 160g/m²), it is pleasant to wear throughout the day. Our t-shirt is very resistant. It has solid stitching to make it last throughout all the years to come.
It has been thought to fit both small and bigger sizes. It has a universal cut, slightly waisted, to fit all types of morphologies. We offer a wide range of sizes, XS to XXXL (34 to 52).
The expertise of a seamstress
After a degree in textile design, Lucille specialised in sewing and patterns. A few years later, she discovered the harsh truth about mainstream fashion: massive delocalised production, poor quality, and overconsumption.
She wanted to give the best to her child and this made her rethink her priorities in life. She decided to join our team and create the "Comme Avant Textile Workshop".
Since then, the team has grown to produce sustainable and ethical textiles. They cut, assemble, and check the quality of around thirty t-shirts each week. You will appreciate the quality of the raw material and the expertise of Lucille's team.
Full transparency
Our cotton t-shirt is GOTS-certified.
To ensure traceability and respect of our principles, we opted for the GOTS certification.
This certificate allows guaranteeing that clothing or other textile products respect the environment as well as good working conditions throughout the production line.
So here's our t-shirt's raw materials:
Fabric: organic cotton jersey, GOTS-certified.
Origin: woven in Turkey and transformed in France.
Bias: organic cotton, GOTS-certified.
Origin: cotton cultivated in Europe. Bias made in Europe.
Thread: Ecru thread, organic cotton certified GOTS.

The organic cotton we use requires little water to grow. It is cultivated without GMOs, pesticides, or chemicals.
A high-quality t-shirt
Our cotton t-shirts have been tested in a lab to guarantee their quality:
- Resistance to tearing
- Textile twisting after a wash
- Dimensional stability
- Fabric propensity during stretching on the surface and bobbling
- Products toxicity (levels of formaldehyde and heavy metals)
- Dye stability on printed labels
Here are the results :
- No textile twisting on the seams.
- After the first few washes, it is possible that the cotton t-shirt shrinks by around 5%.
- After a wash with the recommended washing instructions, there is no significant change: no colour degradation, slight bobbling.
- After a 48h washing machine test, the fabric presents medium bobbling on the surface with no weakness in the fabric (resistance to over 20 000 washes).
- No splitting or marks left by pressure.
- No presence of heavy metals.
FOLLOW OUR SIZE GUIDE TO FIND YOUR SIZE
Here's our size guide (in cm). We have put a lot of detailed information in this guide to help you to find and choose your t-shirt, the most suited to your body and taste.
The sizes indicated in this chart are equal to your body measures (chest size, body and shoulder-length). This guide will help you choose your t-shirt, the most suited to your body. The cotton t-shirt is adjusted and will slightly shrink in the first wash. If you are between two sizes, we would recommend choosing the bigger size.
If you prefer a wider t-shirt, we also offer an organic linen t-shirt, available in black and white.
The women's model has a U-neck, whereas the men's model has a crew-neck (which can also be unisex).
In case of a size problem or a default, you simply need to contact our customer service team to receive a free return label and get a refund or an exchange.
GOTS-certified fabric
For all our textile products, we have chosen GOTS-certified fabric (Global Organic Textile Standard). An international certification that checks that the fabric, the producer and the finished product, and follows demanding social and environmental requirements.
From the control of work in the fields right up to the products used to transform a product, GOTS was for us the best guarantee for our standards.
Our t-shirt can be worn by the vegan community. No fabric of animal origin is used in our garments.
A responsible price
Our ethical t-shirts are reasonably priced and we are going to explain why.
1) Organic agriculture and the GOTS certification increase the production price compared to a non-certified fabric coming from conventional farming but they guarantee a high-quality t-shirt. Our t-shirt doesn't contain any fibre blend or synthetic material.
2) We handmake our t-shirts in our Comme Avant workshop. Each week, our team only makes around thirty t-shirts.
Our price is at the fairest to offer both an ethical cotton t-shirt and a price accessible to all.
A natural and simple packaging
In our approach to consuming better, we have chosen minimalist packaging.
Your t-shirt will come in a nice cardboard box that can also be used as wrapping if this is a present.
It comes with a leaflet and nothing more. Everything is recyclable and biodegradable.
For our textile products, return and exchanges are free and can be done 30 days after product reception.
After having contacted our customer service team, we will send you a pre-paid return label (without any further costs).
Careful, the products mustn't have been worn (only to try them on) and must be returned in their original packaging.
After reception of your parcel and a quality control check, we will proceed to a refund or exchange within 30 days.
Cleaning advice
To wash your t-shirt, a 30°C wash with gentle spin is sufficient. For a more intensive wash, don't go over 40°C.
If your t-shirt is stained, apply a natural stain remover as soon as possible (our soap for example). Leave it to rest for ten minutes, then wash your t-shirt at 40°C with a gentle spin.
Leave it to air dry or put it in a tumble dryer.
You can also iron it. Don't go over the three dots on your iron (steam if possible).
